Hi,

How do I pin Internet Explorer & Firefox to Start Tiles, to where when clicked would load in my desktop?

I have been trying to search for the results, however, I am not being successful. I am tired of pulling my hair out! Please help! Any help is greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Hi Sarah, welcome to Windows EightForums. :)
Navigate to the proper tile on the Apps Screen, right click on it and choose 'Pin to Start'.

Hi Edwin,

Thanks for the welcome! Thanks for the help also!

Navigate to the proper tile on the Apps Screen, right click on it and choose 'Pin to Start'

I have tried the above to pin Internet Explorer to the start from both the desktop & the start, however, Internet Explorer, when clicked from start, loads in what appears to be an app and not the desktop?

Thanks!

The desktop IE is located here: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" (64 bit. A 64 bit system has also Program Files (x86) for the 32 bit version. I'm not sure what a 32 bit system has but you get the idea).

You can create a shortcut to this on the desktop and then 'Pin to Start'. There's probably a more elegant method.

Firefox in a similar way.

Hi Edwin, Brink, Markweatherill,

Thanks so much for all of your help! All of your help was very helpful! I was just doing the steps incorrectly.

When I pin the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe to the start the app loads
When I pin the C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe to the start, then IE loads in my desktop
I do not understand, however, I think I understand why now because of the options maybe?

I got the Firefox to be the default browser and pin to the start to where it opens in desktop!

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe is 32-bit?
C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe is 64-bit & 32-bit?
Is that how that works?

Thanks so much everyone once again!

Thanks!
Mancala
