Web pages freeze some of the time while loading. I have to use "refresh" in order to get the page to load totally. This freeze problem only occurs while I am on the internet and does not take place when I am running programs other than on the internet. Any help will be appreciated. It happens when using either IE or Chrome.

Hi there. I see you have 8 as your OS or have you upgraded to 8.1? What internet service provider and type are you using?

Ok. Did your computer download and install the latest Update 1? It is KB 2919355.

Have you ever reset your router?

Thanks for your help. I just downloaded and installed KB 2919355.

No, I have not reset my router. I see on the back of my Netgear unit, there is a place to reset it to factory settings. Is this what you suggest for me to do?

I did a quick check after installing KB 2919355 and it seemed to work better but not sure as I did check everything.

Thanks again for I sure appreciate your help.

You're quite welcome. :)

Do you have your Windows Update set to automate?

We can deduce at this point that it may be a network problem in that it happens in various browsers and not one. Make sure all of your updates are installed by pushing"Check for updates". I'm sure you know that, but just to be sure.

What antivirus software are you using?

If you need to reset the router do you have means to post here if by chance something goes wrong?

Hello,

I have my computer set to up Windows automatically. Not sure why the last update you mentioned did not load automatically but I did it myself so all is up to date.

I am using Norton Antivirus.

I have a smart phone I could use in the event of a router problem.

Ok, good. Who knows why. Software is finicky. :p

Are you dead set on using Norton? Expert AV members here claim that Defender is sufficient for home computing. Business systems are another thing. One of the members is part of a team that oversees system security for a large and established U.S. auto manufacturer. I take their word for it. IMO 3rd party AV causes more trouble than they're worth. We can't rule out that AVs set wrong firewall rules.

Do other computers and/or devices such as your phone have trouble with browsers? It would not hurt to go ahead and reset your router. I think it to be good to do at least twice a year to clear it just as restarting any PC/device. Follow your manual's instruction. If no manual, look it up online.

Working Fine

Not sure what has taken place but since I installed the latest update you mentioned, all my pages have loaded with no problem. I will keep watching for the problem and if it should return, I will continue with your suggestions. Again, thanks for being there when I needed help.
