How to pin modern internet explorer shortcut to desktop

Hello, I've been trying to find a solution to my problem and then I found this site which seems to be the right Place to ask and get an answer. I don't know has this been posted before, (I'm sorry if so) but I'd appreciate any help.

So here comes the question:
I'm using Windows 8.1 and it's modern internet browser (which opens in full screen etc etc), just because it's fast (I tested it, faster than anything else) and looks great. My problem is not THAT big, but if there is an solution I'd like to hear it.

How can I pin this modern browser to my desktop, or taskbar (down there y'know) as a shortcut?

I've been reading some threads that say
- it CANNOT be done,

other threads that say:
- IT CAN BE DONE WITH SOME REGISTRY EDITING or something,

and some say
- it CAN be done with Metro App link (I tested it, great app but won't include Explorer)

Is it possible to do it with regedit? And if so, I'd like to know how and what is the exact path to create a shortcut (I'm not THAT good with reg editing)

Thank you in advance!

Hi Zahhaus, welcome.

I'm pretty sure that when you do the update to windows 8.1 that everyone is crying about, you can pin apps to the desktop taskbar. I am 99.9999 sure its doable.

And just to show my support I pinned the metro calendar app to be sure.

Right click, pin to taskbar.
If that isn't available (after update 1 for 8.1) right click on the icon in the start screen and see if there is a "open file location" option, go to the file location, hold down the control key and drag the icon to the desktop taskbar

Thats two options I can think of.

Let us know how that goes

Thank you for your reply.. Yes this can be done, right lick --> pin to taskbar.. Explorer icon appears, BUT it's desktop version.. what I want is this modern Explorer. I've changed internet options "always Internet Explorer" etc also.. but it's still opens only desktop version, not modern. This is the problem.

Have you done the recent Update1?, if you have, you can right click and pin to task bar, I have never tried with my 8.1 installation.

You mean KB2919355 update? Yes I have. Is that a screen capture of your taskbar? 'Cuz I can't pin it like that. If I go to Start-menu, right click on Internet Explorer icon (like you have on the right) --> Pin to taskbar.

It makes a shortcut, but it's Explorer desktop version (like on the left side). I don't understand.

Yes, it's the screen capture of the taskbar, I think this update needs fixing and hope they release a fix.
