Solved Windows 8.1 and Windows Live Mail 2012 Problems

I bought a Gateway laptop in June 2013, with Windows 8 installed and Outlook Mail.
Since I like to have the latest of everything, I immediately downloaded the Windows 8.1 update that was offered.

That worked great and I loved it. Then I decided to download Windows Live Mail 2012, since I have 4 different email accounts and really didn't like the Mail program that came with the computer. After that it was one problem after another. I even asked questions in these Forums, can't find the original post. I tried hundreds of different solutions and some worked for a while, some didn't. I uninstalled/reinstalled Windows Live Mail 2012 a countless number of times.

I got very tired of all that and noticed my laptop was very sluggish. So, I decided to do the Recovery back to factory settings with all my files left intact.

It was work, but it was worth the effort. I've come to the conclusion that my update to 8.1 and Windows Live Mail 2012 were incompatible.

I am now using Windows 8 and Windows Live Mail 2012 with no problem at all. The laptop is working as fast as when I originally got it.

Suffice it to say, newer is not always better!! I'll stick with Windows 8, so I can get and read my email when I wish.

Just an FYI for any of you that might have had similar problems.

Not at all. I use Windows Live Mail 2012 and 8.1 and it works perfectly fine. It also worked fine on Windows 8 and 7 (although perhaps it wasn't 2012 at that point)

Perhaps you fixed something else by mistake

What were the problems? You don't get into detail.

The three other posts you have contributed, so far, were on another subject. Was it possibly on another forum?

Like Adamf, I am having absolutely no problems with Live Mail on Windows 8.1

It is pretty good actually.

I have windows live mail, I have win 8.1, I have 6 dif email accounts linked to it, 5 online hotmail, outlook and live mail, I also have a pop mail account in it.

I'm glad you have not had the problems I did.
As I said, this was a problem I had and possibly others had it, too.
It might have something to do with where my 8.1 update came from.
Anyway, everything is working fine now. I like both Windows 8 and Windows Live Mail 2012.
