I have just downloaded Win 8 and I am unable to connect my current email client (gmail) with the Metro Mail App. I have entered my account information correctly and it brings me to a page that asks for further information regarding Exchange ActiveSync settings, which I have no idea how to interact with. Help would be greatly appreciated, as this is the only major complication I am having with the OS (so far.)

That's what I had the first time I tried it. The second time it just went straight in without asking for extra info.

Are you adding a new Gmail account to the App or trying to use Exchange Server which it seems to offer as an option? That is where my initial problem was.

I've been successful in setting up both my personal gmail and my employer's business gmail with company domain name in the Metro mail app.
Are you using Google's 2-factor authentication? If so, you need to generate an application-specific password for the metro mail app. Once I did this, I was able to access Gmail entering no information other than address and password.

u can add gmail account in 2 ways.
first - as a google account (settings -> accounts -> add account -> google
second - as exchange account - as a login use full email address, server is m.google.com, domain - leave empty

this way should work

in my case, push isn't working properly regardless of account type.
