Synchronise contacts & calendar between W8 tablet & W7 PC

I have recently bought a W8 tablet, and also use a W7 PC. I use Outlook on the PC, and will be using the tablet while on the move, sometimes disconnected. I want to be able to take my emails, contacts, calendar and some documents with me on the tablet.

i intend to use SkyDrive for the documents, and will use the mail app, or install Outlook on the tablet to have a copy of emails on it, but I am not sure how to make sure that contacts and calendar are synchronised on both machines. I use a local to UK mail provider (btinternet).

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to align contacts and calendars across both machines? I could rejig my email set-up if needed

I used to just copy the outlook folder from my PC to my laptop (assuming the same version of outlook on both) over the network using freefilesynch , low tech but it gave me an exact copy of what I had on my PC on the laptop before I went out...

When I got back I did the same again but in reverse if I'd added anything else whilst I was away.
