I recently upgraded to 8.1 and cannot send or receive email. I have the latest Thunderbird and have not altered any settings. I have uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled it and tried to google the problem.

Thank you

No problem here running Thunderbird on Windows 8.1.
However I did a new install of Windows 8.1 rather than an upgrade from Windows 8, installed 8.1 on a new system build.

I am currently using Thunderbird on my Windows 8.1 desktop. I had a few problems with it crashing while writing a new mail message, but I disabled some add-ons and it seems to be doing fine now. This is my first experience with Thunderbird (I went to it because I needed a POP capable mail program and the native 8.1 mail does not support POP.

It must be the update to 8.1 that has screwed it then as I cannot do anything at all with Thunderbird even after reinstalling it. Is there anything I can do or should I find another mail program? I'm only using this because Outlook Express won't work.

thunderbird issues

Hi There, I am also having issues with getting POP email account working with Windows 8.1. I tried using thunderbird for awhile and really liked it. However, at one point all the messages in my INBOX deleted...after that I stopped using thunderbird. However, just recently I had this issue also occur in my Windows Live Mail account. I continue to have problems getting email working, I don't want to use the OUTLOOK.COM interface but Microsoft seems to be bullying me into having no other choice... :(

By the way I did really like the THUNDERBIRD email system, until I had that glitch where all my messages got deleted. I may try it again, it might help me to continue to get my POP email working.

Anyone know why Microsoft has not made Windows 8.1 POP compatible?

Colinf
