Solved Using microsoft Email account to log-in

During the night my windows desktop with Win8.1 pre-release was update to Win8.1 release.
Of course it deleted my Favorites in IE & updated to IE11.
It also deleted all my contacts in Mail.

However when I logged into my other desktop using my MS account, it updated IE Favorites & Mail contacts to 0.

I had this info on my portable & put this info on a thumb drive.
SURPRISE there is no way to import or export this info into IE11 or Mail.

Is there something I missed on this procedure?

I was under the impression that I had control of my computer & not MS!

Hello Tully,

Your IE Favorites are stored in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites folder. You could just copy and paste the backup of your Favorites into this folder to restore them.
The Mail and People apps work together, so if you added an Outlook.com or Exchange account, your contacts are automatically added to the People app. For all other accounts, you need to add the same email accounts to the People app to get your contacts, just like you did in the Mail app.
