Search engines

Hi All,
I have always had "Google" for my search engine, but now I am testing others because of the bugs with Google. I am running Windows 8.1 Pro.
I am posting here to see if anybody else is having the same bugs.
For the past few weeks now I have had issues with the "back button" when searching in Google. When I would first open IE11 Google would load with https and when I done a search it would produce the links properly. Then when I click the "back button" it would take me back to a blank page with http not https. I would have to click the "back button" again to display all the links google produced. Now for some reason when I press the "back button" it only refreshes the page I am on. I have to right-click the "back button" to get back to my search links. This is very annoying and I have read that many others are having the same problem. I have tried and checked many of the fixes recommended but none seem to work or my settings are what was recommended.
I do not have any viruses or hijackers on my system, it is fully protected.
I am currently using "Bing" for several days now and it works properly.
Now here is the big question:
Who else is experiencing this bug?
And who knows the proper fix if there is one?

I have done that countless times and have followed many ways that people suggested in google search but none have worked.
If you google this bug you will see it is not isolated, many seem to have the same issue
Hoping someone else discovered a fix that will work for me.

My wife's laptop is running Windows 7 and do not have that issue so it's weird. Why some and not all who use Google search?

The problem you describe is most likely because of third party cookies. By default, any Google seach should be using an ssl connection. Many of the links Google provides have these third party cookies accepted by the browser before showing you which ever link you click on. Since the process is automatic by default you probably don't notice it unless you hit the back button.

In order to prevent this behavior their are several ways to block third party cookies. All browsers have the option to not allow or accept third party cookies in the settings menu. Additionally, you can install a host file or browser add-on which will help enforce the blocking of unwanted third party cookies.

I blocked all third party cookies and it still happens
eg. I went to google search and typed "what is adnxs" and got links so I clicked on a link and read the page then clicked the "back button" and it only refreshed the same page. This is the problem many of us are having. I can search in Bing the same sites and click the back button and it works fine so it has to be related to google.
Setting the browser to delete cookies on exit is a pain because then I have to log into my regular sites each time I visit.
Surely there is a fix for this.
Eset Smart Security, Spybot, and Malwarebytes does not detect anything.

The above posts indicate to me you have a nasty piece of malware on the system called a rootkit. Rootkits are designed to be undetectable by most Anti-Virus products. I strongly recommend you have your system looked at by a professional or forum trained to deal with such an issue.

I ran Sophos anti-rootkit last night and all came back good.
That should have picked up something or is that not a good removal kit?

Again I would suggest you have it looked at by a professional or forum trained to remove malware.

It may or may not be the cause of the issue but at least it can then be ruled out.
