Popups ads from links in text

So I disabled AdBlock the other day and noticed links with popup ads like in the image below. I'm seeing them on this site also. Is that a virus? Any way to determine what is causing them?

Not a virus, just ads. It's frequent now on some sites, plain text becomes a link with a pop-up ad. Disable javascript for this site and you'll see them disappearing if they annoy you. Or reeanable adblock. Noscript works for that too.

Edit : if they are showing up on this site too then you may have a problem, not a virus but probably malware. Check your extensions/plugins, this is probably the cause. Not sure what browser you are using so I can't be specific.

In IE it's gear button > Manage Add-Ons.
In Toolbars and Extensions, check if anything not from Microsoft, or anything not installed by you is there and disable it.
Use the show scrollbox (on the right) to display everything installed (show all / currently loaded / run without permissions, etc..)

I'm not seeing them on this site. I just woke up from a nap when I posted that so I'll use that as my excuse. I was seeing them on another site. I'll run a deep virus scan tonight just to be sure. Thanks!
