Have you tried reinstalling? I have WLM 2012 on my machine and it came thru the upgrade to 8.1 without issue.

Problem solved

Hi Strollin
Thanks for your help/advice. I have managed to solve the problem by locating the WLF under C:users\XXXX\appdata\local\microsoft\windows live mail and changing it to .old. Then uninstalling WLM and reinstalling. This worked.

I have a related (I think) issue. Windows Live Mail still sends and receives mail after my 8.1 upgrade, but printing is disabled. I haven't been able to find anything in the settings to re enable it. Does anyone have any suggestions to get me printing again?

Thanks,
Jerry in Melbourne, FL

Yes, my default printer is set correctly. I can print from any other program, but neither the print button nor Ctrl-P produces any reaction in Live Mail. It worked before the 8.1 upgrade, but now it appears to be disabled internally. I searched through the WL settings screens to see if there was any clue, but I couldn't find anything. I'm going to try reloading Live Essentials.

windows 8 Live Mail

It sounds like a number of people are having a problem with Live Mail after the Update to 8.1...
I am having a similar problem but I don't think it is related to the update- cause I am not sure it has been updated.
Suddenly several days ok, my mail delivery just quit... It happened on all 3 of my computers- two with Win 8, one with whatever the top Vista program is.. I kept getting a message from Microsoft wanting me to sign in again- using my Microsoft password- I kept doing it and it went nowhere... Then all of a sudden - mail was coming in again on one of the HP Win 8 machines and my Acer Vista machine... this machine an HP Envy 2 still cannot get mail in.. What can I do? Sometimes I think Microsoft has more control over my computer than I do.. Sure would appreciate any ideas from you all.. Thanks, C

In my case, it was working fine before the upgrade to 8.1 (What could go wrong? I thought to myself) and won't print now. None of the three methods of printing (Ctrl-P, File->Print, or the QuickPrint button) produce any reaction whatsoever. I did try updating Live Mail, which didn't help. My next step will be to uninstall and re install the program, which will have to wait until the weekend when I have more time.

I haven't seen anyone else with the same issue in my Google searches.

I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but I recall having this printing problem in Windows 7 and it turned out that I had fiddled around and made IE 64 bit the default browser by renaming IE in the 32 bit folder. Then WLM wouldn't print. So I put things back and it worked. Since Windows 8.1 doesn't seem to have 32 bit IE that may explain it.

Wow. I think you're onto something here. I just discovered that I can't print out of IE either. I hadn't noticed that earlier because I've been using Chrome as my default browser. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fix it. Incidentally, the computer is a Dell Inspiron One 2330, 64 bit, with IE11.

Okay, now I've just discovered something else in Internet Explorer. Not only is there no response to the Print command, but when I try to go into Page Setup, I get Error 13: Error in loading DLL.

What do I do now?
