8.0 to 8.1 problems.

When I was running 8.0 and would go to say foxnews.com all of the pictures would be there. Now that I am running 8.1 and go to foxnews.com all the pictures are just white box's. Any ideas I can try to make it right?

You'll need to make sure you have installed all the correct drivers for 8.1. Go to your computer manufacturer and install all current 8.1 drivers. Next, go to adobe's website and reinstall adobe flash player for firefox. Repair it if the option presents itself. You may need to repair or reinstall any other program that encounters errors since the upgrade. Let me know how it goes!

sorry mate, I read firefox instead of foxnews. in that case, there is no need to install adobe reader, it comes with ie. You can check for flash player in the control panel programs, and remove it if you see it. It is not needed

But if it's only foxnews then it's something with that site, try the IE compatibility settings.

Don't think so mate, I have IE11 win 8.1 and that one, MSN, and all sites I've found work so far. I could have done something to the compatibility settings, but I don't think so.

They do here as well ...after choosing another DNS. IE11 refused to communicate properly with the internet provider's default DNS. Same for the members who posted in that thread. Not saying this is the OP's problem, but it's only a few minutes job to test it out.

And as you tested it, seemingly no help in trying the compatibility route (foxnews ok here as well).

Sorry, what I meant to say is that I do not believe it is an inherent problem with IE11. I believe (but could be wrong) that the problem lies elsewhere.

And after looking through, I found that I had not changed any compatibility settings in IE at all, so my IE should in a sense 'match' someone else's.

All my drivers are up to date. It could be any Web site. Some of the pictures are there and some are not. I did notice I do not have java installed. When I tried to it failed over and over. So then I tried to install chrome. It failed over and over. I can not download anything. When I try. It just says fail. When I retry it will download but instead of it being setup.exe it will be setup_exe. I have to rename it and it works. If it does not give me the option to save as I can not download. This windows 8 is driving me crazy.

You don't need java, it just makes you more susceptible to viruses anyway.

This doesn't sound like a windows 8.1 issue. I don't have these issues, so it could be something else.

I reset my pc back to factory image with Dell backup and recovery. Working like a champ now. No more bugs and crashes anymore. All the pictures are there and I can download without any problems now. I wonder now if I should update to 8.1 now. I did not have my pc for about two days when I updated it. So really not sure how just 8 was acting. Thanks for the help.
