ipad

Hello
I set up a MS live account using my pc for my brother who has an Ipad. I called him and he was able to sign in with the account information I gave but his view seems to be inconsistent with the way Outlook.com should appear, as he explains it over the phone..
Have I done the right thing which should work or is the Ipad not able to use the Outlook.com?
