Just for info, I've just been looking at the Microsoft IE Gallery page HERE and it appears that the Fanboy Tracking Protection Lists (TPL) have been removed from the Microsoft website. The TPL's also appear to have stopped updating themselves, as the last time they were updated was nearly a month ago:

After doing a quick search, I came across the following thread and it appears that the Fanboy lists have/are being merged with the two Easylist (Adblock Plus) Tracking Protection Lists, which would explain why they are no longer updating:

What is now the best Adblock for IE10 ? I know there is a new paid version but the trial version had a noticeable effect on speed on my system.

I had success with Fanboy but since the merger, Abine and EasyPrivacy are not as effective. This week I had two malware attacks blocked that I suspect originated from ads.

What is your rec for a secondary browser for Win8 ?

I have tried Chrome which is OK, but the text is not as clear/bold. The startup load page is slower, but I love the Adblock. Also, no matter what they say, I feel more secure with Chrome in ref to malware, etc.

That depends what the user likes. With all those different ones out there...

Since I moved to x64 I was looking for 64bit browsers, not that they are faster (because they claim it) but using some good ones, variations of Firefox like Pale Moon (this is what I use now) and Cyberfox where you still have Adblock on both.

I like Chrome but not yet on Win8: it's a hybrid to Metro and I didn't like the browser's involvement to this... always messed up some tweaked settings, opened not on the desktop...

Then I went to the Core: using Chromium: the base project of Chrome but in the latest versions, the installer also 'configured' it for Win8: not good. Manual installs from zip: don't work anymore (my way of doing things) the exe is not allowed to run due to 'delegate' error stuff.

And something else: Chrome updates install new versions but they keep the old ones as well, so in a month or so you get 1GB or more in the browser's folder. They should fix this one for sure.

So besides the soldered-into-place IE, you can use a Firefox (or one of it's variations) Chrome or Opera as well.

Over the past few hours, Easylist seems to be doing a better job. May check out FF.
