Hello, I would firstly like to say that I am no computing expert ( quite the opposite actually) and I find Windows 8 extremely confusing. I have set up( eventually) Windows 8 mail to receive mail from an extra email address as well as the initial one e.g ABC@gmail.com, and XYZ@gmail.com. Now, while I can read incoming mail from both, if I reply to mail coming in on the second address, the reply shows up as originating from the first address. I hope my explanation isn't too confusing. Would anyone know how I can reply to an email that came in to the second address with that same address as point of origin?? Many thanks DOK.

Hi Dokgolf, welcome to the Eight Forums.

When composing a mail message, new or reply, Mail App shows the sender (usually your default mail account) on top left corner just above the To field where you type the receiver's mail address. Simply click your avatar / name to open a drop down list of all your mail accounts and select the sender account you'd like to use.

Many thanks for the reply Kari. Unfortunately, when I click on the avatar/name, nothing happens. It just remains the same account? There are definitely 2 accounts coming in, because I got notified of your reply to my question, on the secondary address.

Let's check something.

In Mail App, press WIN + i to open Settings bar, select Accounts. You should now see both your accounts there. Click the secondary Gmail account, the one you are currently not able to use as send from account, scroll down the settings and check everything is exactly as highlighted in this screenshot:

No, only one account is showing. I can read both accounts ( because , I presume, I used Mail fetcher to access the secondary account). If I simply add my secondary email address to the accounts, will this enable me to respond for either?

OK, that explains it.

In your original post you mentioned I have set up (eventually) Windows 8 mail to receive mail from an extra email address as well as the initial one e.g ABC@gmail.com, and XYZ@gmail.com.

I assumed you meant you have set up both these Gmail accounts in Windows Mail App, but this seems not be the case. To be able to send mail from an account it must be first set up in Mail App.

Add the secondary account: Win + i > Accounts > Add an account, follow the on screen instructions.

Thank you SO MUCH Kari. I have one final question. How come links aren't "active" in Windows 8 mail e.g. I got a mail saying that you had responded to me question on this forum and it gave a link to this thread, but the link wasn't active and I had to copy and paste it into my browser. Is there a way I can activate links in Windows 8 mail program? I'm sorry for all the questions, I feel like a complete idiot:eek:

There might be a simple reason for this, only thing I can think of: You mentioned that you get these notifications to that secondary account which was not properly set up. Maybe Gmail somehow reved the links when one accoun t was fetching messages from another account?

All notifications I get, as well as all other mail messages, have clickable links.
