I am using Win 8 64 Bit. Recently when I click on a link (in outlook) it takes me to a weird IE screen with the location in black at the bottom of the page. It does not have my menu or option bar and it shows the desktop when I go to upper left corner. If I click on the desktop icon it takes me to a normal IE page with all my add-on and features. If I click on the icon on the start menu it goes to the weird IE page. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but to no avail.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Bill

Hi there and welcome to Eightforums.

The weird IE screen you are describing is in fact not a weird IE screen ;). It is the IE APP, not the IE Desktop version. So what happens is that, whenever you click on a link in Outlook, it starts in the IE APP instead of the IE Desktop version.

You can change the behavior of Windows, concerning links, as following.

  • Go to the desktop and open IE from the desktop.
  • Go to Internet Options.
  • Go to the tab Programs.
  • You can change the upper selections the way you want IE to behave.

Goodluck with it!!
