I select any .rtf documents in the 'Documents' section of File Explorer' (recently transferred from an old XP laptop to this new Notebook), right click on it, select 'Send to' > 'Mail recipient' & I get an 'Email' dialog box opening up saying: ..........if an email program is already installed create an association in the Default Programs control panel. I have read several items regarding this & still haven't figured it out. My email program was set up by Virgin Media who is my ISP broadband supplier & my email source. They did it by remote control. I asked them what the title of this email system is & they told me 'Mail' for Windows 8. In simple terms how do I exactly do this in the Control Panel Default Section? Thanks for any assistance.

Unzip & read the html file.
It may point you in the right direction.

No it didn't help at all I'm afraid. As I said I already have an email program & I use IE for my browser. If I do as he suggests & substitute IE for his Opera there is no MAPI box to check. Thanks anyway. I can't remember how I did this the first time around before Windows crashed on me & I had to set it back to factory settings. Thanks anyway, you always seem to be coming to my rescue medab 1!!

If you install Opera you can still use Internet Explorer.
Only now the option to right click & send by email is available.
You can set up Opera email to use YOUR email service.
The option is also now available in programs like Word Pad.

Thanks again medab 1. I'll give it a go & let you know what happens.
When I click on 'Mail' in 'Set your default programs' it shows: 'This program has all its defaults'. Shall I still go ahead & open 'Opera'?

I can't see any of the pictures that the guy created in the tutorial so I'm at a bit of a handicap. I downloaded 'Opera' web browser, but do I set it as my 'default application for viewing websites'? I can't see how to open an email service with Opera on their website.

"The guy" is me. :)

"but do I set it as my 'default application for viewing websites'?"---- NO. Just for email.

"I can't see how to open an email service with Opera on their website."---- It is IN the Opera Browser itself, NOT on the web like the Windows 8 Email.
Internet Explorer USED to have Outlook Express built in, like Opera has built in Email.

Microsoft did away with the Outlook Express, hence the inability to right click & send by email.

Opera, having built in Email, enables one TO right click & send by Email.

Look at the pictures closely.Very closely.
They show how to set up Opera Email as default Email so you can right click & send something by Email.

I made the tutorial after applying the method on my own computer.

Post back after studying the situation a bit. :)

I see now !

You couldn't get the images to appear in the html file.
For that to work, they have to stay in the same folder as the html file.

I'm glad you got it sorted out.
