Are We Doomed To Use Windows Live Mail (again) for Windows 8?
I really wish Microsoft had stuck with Windows Mail through Win 7 and now Win 8. WLM is like an aborted version of Outlook - all buttons and bars and no easy way of doing anything at all and just great if you are like me and have 10 email addresses....all with their own folders.

What I would like to have is one inbox only, not 10, and not to have to laboriously empty every single deleted folder for just one message...maybe it's just me, but I hated Outlook and I hate WLM even more....the top toolbar is a total mishmash mess. Whatever happened to simplicity? I don't have a degree in computer science and I have no intention of getting one but with this particular item having obviously been designed by a boffin who has those qualifications I end up with a severe headache every time I go into it. (Not helped by the cramped space afforded by a Virtual Box installation).
That's why I did the hack to get Windows Mail working in my Seven rigs. Hopefully someone will come up with something for Eight. It's early days of course so I shall be patient. I was just moaning out loud that's all!!

Win 8 is more Live Oriented than before I believe. With being tied around the Live ID account/s for all the app communications, and the coming push into more Windows Live Skydrive (cloud) use.

As my mother used to say, 'it will all come out in the wash'... it's early days to speculate how the end product will look. I'm not struck on Metro too much although I like the first screen one sees before signing in, but I don't like my email address being displayed above my password entry space.

No, you can use the well-known "Windows Mail" from Vista in Windows 8.
You only need an additional file ("C:\Windows\System32\msidcrl30.dll" - from Vista or Windows 7).
