Solved POP3 confusion

After reading dozens of posts concerning Windows 8 and the Mail program included, I would like (if possible) a definitive answer to the following questions:

If I download and install Windows Essentials 2012, will I then be able to both send and receive my email via a POP3 provider (Verizon) without any problems?

Will the installation trash my Windows 8 installation (as some have reported)?

I would greatly appreciated your help on this matter as changing email providers is not an option.

Thanks,
Bob

I know the Windows Essentials email program supports POP3 directly for Windows 7. I downloaded it, installed it, and tried it on Windows 7. I haven't tried it on Windows 8, but I would expect that it does. I haven't heard of Windows Essentials trashing an installation.

I am using Windows Live Mail which included in Windows Essentials 2012 without any problem using POP3.

Not that I know of. My Windows 8 is completely healthy

Windows live mail works fine on W8. I installed Winmail from Vista and am using that. I've used it for years and see no reason to change.

just for an fyi, wlm 2012 has a bug in group contacts
You can make them just fine but you cannot send a group contact list
this works fine in wlm 2011 and if you really need to send a groupl contact list you can uninstall it and go back to 2011 it is still available, I am working with Micrososft to figure out what the problem is, but they are still stratching their heads too but they are working on it

Thanks for the 'heads up' on the Group Contact issue. I don't think it will bother me but I will keep it in mind.
