Windows 8 Mail doesn't always get mail

My new computer has Windows 8 and while the Mail app seems to work ok for a while, it eventually stops receiving and sending email (the problem might be related to periods after it restarts from 'sleep'). There are no error messages when it quits and works after I re-boot the computer (for a while).

Also, would appreciate any tips for migrating user contacts from Vista/Windows Mail.

Any tips for either problem would be appreciated.

Thanks.

PS. I use Sympatico.ca which is a POP3 account.

I had the same issue with mine, so I installed Office 2013 and I'm using Outlook 2013. It's much more reliable than Windows Mail and it works better for me. I never was able to find out what was wrong with Windows Mail.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Case closed! I couldn't buy Office 2013 (I have 2010) in Canada and Outlook was going to cost me an extra $179. I also couldn't face fiddling with registry so installed Mozilla Thunderbird - which seems to work great. I was even able to import my old contacts without too much trouble.

Now, if I could only get my Samsung monitor to wake up!

Ps. Windows 8 is like a blind date - I'm still trying to figure her out and not sure it'll work out.
