Major Issues with IE10 (Desktop)

I am facing several major issues with IE10:

1. Autocomplete does not work for most sites unless one switches to "compatibility view". I am unable to save usernames, passwords and form data in normal mode.
2. When I login to the Gmail web interface, I am unable to delete messages in any folder (Spam, Sent & Trash) - they keep reappearing. However if I login from a Win7/IE9 machine, I am able to delete messages without a problem.

It seems to me that IE10 (Desktop) on Win8 has major compatibility problems with many websites.

- Try resetting IE10 (internet options, advanced)

- Scan with your antivirus (AV)

- If running a different AV than the one incorporated, disable or uninstall

- Reset Windows 8 (settings, change PC settings, general)

- Are you still running Win8 Enterprise ? Check for updates.

I have not had issues with IE10 on the Desktop with either the Enterprise and now Win8 Pro. Good Luck !

Problems persist despite a clean installation of Windows 8 Enterprise. Re-setting IE10 did not help.

Is the Enterprise the only OS on your system ? Dual boot, or virtual ?

Any other users from EU having the same issue ? There is a browser controversy in the EU with Microsoft, correct ? I read that some users are having problems with IE.

Probably best to use another browser until Enterprise expiration date. Also, google the problem and see if anyone else not on this forum may have similar issue.

Most of the problems that exist with the current IE10 build come down to websites using old and archaic detection logic or old frameworks for jquery and the like that don't detect IE10, and instead detect it as "unknown" or (worse) IE5 or IE6 or older. This causes their sites to feed IE10 horribly outdated HTML, CSS, and other page content originally intended for IE6 or older. Putting IE10 in compatibility view tells the browser to report to sites that it is IE7, which isn't great but at least you don't get content returned for IE6 (or worse) IE5 and older. In the case of "this site doesn't work unless I place it into compatibility view" causes the site to work properly, this is very, very, very likely what is happening.

While it is a problem, it's not an IE10 problem, it's a website design problem. Using old methods of browser detection like script and headers are bad (at best), and cause this sort of behavior. IE8 and higher support the vast majority of what sites out there are designed for already with regards to HTML4 and HTML5, and IE9 and 10 bring more support plus better CSS support and faster javascript performance. Special-casing IE nowadays causes this behavior, not IE itself.

The specific behaviour of the websites which is not compatible with IE10 is Autocomplete - they do not remember the "form" or "username" data until I switch to "Compatibility View". Otherwise the websites display perfectly OK. On the same websites, Autocomplete works using Windows 7 / IE9 in "normal View". It seems to me therefore that there is a specific problem with IE10 on Win8 which prevents autocomplete from working in many sites.

Blizzards BattleNet website is a minefield of non-operation using IE10.

It's so bad that I had to install FireFox to get it to work right :/ Of course FF doesn't work with OTHER sites too well. Really hate having to maintain the security of TWO browsers.

Then we have Chrome and it's tight integration with Google services that is lacking on other browsers, were heading to a world where we'll need a seperate browser for every site we visit it seems...
