yeah, if you want to use the Windows 8 email app with POP, then you need to use the workaround:
create an outlook.com account. send your pop mail (to outlook.com). then add the outlook.com account to the Windows 8 email app. voila. all your verizon.net email or your nyc.rr.com or whatever email to the Win8 email app. Yeah, it sucks to use a workaround but if you want to use that app...
Thanks for the replies guys. I use incredimail for all my mail at present. I want a mail service that will collect my mail from all my sites, ( i operate a Nudist Park ).My point was that if a new OS comes with an app for Mail then, it should cater for all formats, otherwise you may as well delete it. If it is just an oversight it will be fixed shortly, if it is intentional, and won't be updated, then delete it !.
outlook.com (or gmail or yahoo) will collect all your mail. which you can then send to the windows 8 mail app.
I got winlive email, I thought. However one might suspect that I would get a winlive email address, ie
email@example.com. If that's possible I haven't figured it out.
It just askes for my usual email, a POP3, firstname.lastname@example.org.
To test, I sent a message from winlive to email@example.com (not real).
So I did receive the email from winlive to fred. When I reply, just testing, it doesn't reply back
to winlive, the reply just goes back to fred??
Fred is still dancing around what is probably a simple solution, this old guy is
just missing something it the setup??
When you are sending a new e-mail on the far right of the To: window is the From: window and if you have multiple e-mail accounts it will select a default, so check and see which address you are sending from.
I've been reading through this thread as I have/had the same problem. However I partly resolved it as my ISP also allowed imap settings which worked. My problem now is that when I used Windows easy transfer it didn't bring across my old mails. On another thread on this forum I was advised to use EML Viewer and sure enough I have a whole bunch of emails to look through. My problem is that none of these emails are in date order and none have headers unless I hover the mouse over.
Is there any way I can actually import these into my email account or even get them in some kind of date order with headers? I'm not very technical so words of one syllable please
Many thanks in anticipation
Pretty much all fixed by downloading and using Windows Live Mail - much better
Windows 8.1 Preview 32 & 64 bit will not allow POP mail transmitting, but will receive. With all parameters equal, POP mail works fine in Windows 7 and Windows 8 basic on my tablet. It appears that this is just a Preview (build 9431) issue and will probably corrected with the final version.
